Decorating With Vibrant Fall Colors to Last All Season
21 Oct 2006

We all love this time of year; when the changing colors of the leaves create breathtaking landscapes.  These scenes conjure up our fondest memories of fall, just as clearly as the scent of a warm, fresh, baked apple pie.  Sadly, Mother Nature’s brilliant artwork lasts but a few short weeks each year.  Soon the leaves will all have fallen, leaving the ground brown and barren.

Your backyard is a virtual treasure trove containing all the accessories you need to help keep the boldness of fall alive in your home throughout the autumnal months. (A quick dash to the dollar store can also be useful.) You can easily add some seasonal panache to your room décor.

Start with a self-standing pillar candle in bright yellow, orange, or red.  Now add decorative accoutrements to create a fun, seasonal display.  You may choose hay, Spanish moss, twigs, berries, preserved leaves, or decorative ribbons.  How about harvesting acorns or pinecones from your yard or a public park?  You can leave your accessories in their natural state; or use acrylics or spray paint in colors to compliment your pillar candle.  Now arrange the accessories around the pillar candle, and there you have it:  a wonderful seasonal table centerpiece or display for a bay window or fireplace mantel.

Experiment and have fun!  Adding lovely fall décor to your home doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated.  You can adorn as many rooms as you like without putting a dent in your decorating budget.
