Customizing Your Wall Mural
3 Mar 2007
Once your wall mural is installed, the job is usually finished. However, there are a lot of simple things you can do to add interest effects. The great thing is, you don't have to spend a lot of money. Customizing your wall mural is fun and inexpensive too.
For example, if you have uncovered blank wall on one or either side of the wall mural, you can paint it a complementary color; perhaps a neutral tone that is prominent in the wall mural image. The paint helps the mural to blend in a little (instead of being a stark contrast to, say, a white wall) for a more uniform feel to the entire wall.
You can also add plastic or wooden borders, found at home supply stores, to frame out the wall mural. If your image has columns, you can add pvc or heavy cardboard columns wrapped in faux marble contact paper. You can add a small trellis above the wall mural with faux or real hanging plants such as those pictured in your scene.
The effect is really eye catching and makes the whole scene more three dimensional and intriguing.
Sketch your designs and ideas on paper first and then go to the store with a set budget in mind. You'll be surprised at what a small investment of $30 or so can do to add to the overall appeal of your beautiful wall mural!
